A period home, once a beauty burdened with the weight of years, had lost its traces over time. In this project we had the opportunity to completely rebuild the entirety of the home. Our first step involved removing all old details, marking a fresh start. Subsequently, we established a modern foundation using traditional techniques such as reinforcing tiles and rendering the walls while preserving the historic texture of the house.

 

We enhanced the comfort of the home with thermal and sound-insulated wall panels, then shaped the details with period-appropriate choices. Carefully selected and implemented elements like skirting, coving, door styles, and wall panels reflected the essence of the home.

 

To address the common light issue in terrace houses, we added a modern kitchen extension with expansive windows. By strategically incorporating features like skylights and roof windows, we ensured that sunlight wouldn’t negatively impact the kitchen area.

Placing glass frames between the middle reception room and the corridor not only added a spacious feel to the home but also offered a modern interpretation of the classic Victorian era.

 

In the master bedroom, we merged two rooms to create an open-plan bathroom and dressing area. The use of cabinets effectively delineated spaces while maximizing storage.

Lastly, we modernized all bathrooms and revamped everything from flooring to other intricate details.
